My Women: Sentinelles

Dijanne Cevaal is a fiber artist who lives in Australia.  She has created Sentinelles which is a woman silk screened on dyed fabric by Dijanne.  The panels are all different colors and have the same woman on them.  We (Sisters in Cloth & Friends) were challenged with decorating them and then returning them for a shows around the world.

My goal was to finish one of my two women for this world tour.  My women were peach and pink.  I started with the peach one and started with the beading and then found her dress material at JoAnn Fabric which I then ran embroidery thread the dress.  I did her face last when she finally talked with me.  I then started on the pink women and was able to finish it (see below).

As of this writing, the Sentinelles will be going to:

  • Voix au Feminin at Palaiseau which is a satellite city of Paris form March 5 - 22, 2014
  • Textile Festival in Canberra May 2 - 5, 2014
  • Berry Retreat August 29 - 31, 2014

Selfie

I was asked to make a selfie of myself for the Guilford Library Quilt Show!!  Yes, a selfie!!!  So, I was given a challenge to make a picture of myself to be placed with the other selfless (see below).

Amazing enough… the people that went to the show that I knew loved my selfie and wanted to purchase it.  I would like to make a new one; however, the Sisters in Cloth kept it with the others for future shows.

Guilford Library Quilt Show

Guilford Library Quilt Show
December, 2013

This was a new piece made just for this show at the Guilford Library (Guilford, CT).
This show was with the other quilters in Sisters In Cloth.

There are two different materials in this quilt along with the black material.
All the material came from Missouri Star Quilt.  I hand-stiched around all the pieces to finish the quilt.

First Quilt Show

2013 Quilt Show - First Church of East Haddam, CT
October, 2013

First Church was located in East Haddam, CT and was a wonderful drive on a beautiful fall day.  The above picture is the quilt that I had in this show.  The pictures below are all from the quilt show.  The last photo is a quilt that was very interesting and was truly 3-D looking.  The woman who made the quilt shared that the directions were not correct and she had to fix it while trying to finish the quilt.
